Residential Lighting System
Good lighting is just as important as any aspect of your residential interior. You may have the best furniture, perfect wall colour, and beautiful room accessories, but if the lighting isn’t right, then furniture and fixtures look drab and the overall atmosphere can be gloomy.
Did you know there is more to lighting than just table lamps and fluorescent lights? Lighting your home to compliment your interior requires strategic planning. You need the right lighting system to create the kind of home environment you want to achieve.
Task Lighting
This is the kind of lighting installed in areas that require good light, including nighttime. It has a focused beam of light that brightens a specific area. These types of lighting systems are installed in areas where you read, study, perform computer work, do crafts and other hobbies. It can also be installed in the kitchen area where you prepare and cook food.
Ambient Lighting
General lighting (ambient lighting) is used mainly to provide light in living rooms or walkways. These lights are not as bright as task lights, but create enough light to safely guide people as they walk from one room to another. Some examples of ambient lighting are wall and ceiling mounted lighting fixtures. Chandeliers and lanterns are also considered ambient lighting and are mostly installed in living room and dining room areas to provide a cozy environment.
Accent Lighting
Accent lighting is more focused on bringing attention to an area or object inside your home. For instance, you may want to highlight an architectural feature, a favourite painting, or picture frames. Accent lighting adds character to a certain area that makes the overall look of the room appear more attractive.
